How to say “How are you?” in Taiwanese

“How are you?” in Taiwanese (Taiwanese Hokkien, Tâi-gí) is 你好無, romanized as lí hó-bô in Tâi-lô and Lí hó-bô in the traditional Pe̍h-ōe-jī spelling. Press play above to hear it, then try saying it yourself.

A yes-or-no question, literally "are you well?". The natural answer is simply 好 (hó). Asking 食飽未 (have you eaten?) is the more traditional way to show the same care.
